History

Landes is a local company, strongly rooted in Talcahuano, southern Chile, were we started operations 60 years ago.

With two boats, a citizen of Russian origin named Sulim Landes began with the fishing of sardine and anchovy for the production of fishmeal and fish oil in the 60s. Later the company began to grow and was acquired by the Bohorodzaner and Fosk families, who currently hold the property.

In the 90s, Landes ventured in the production of proteins of greater value for human and animal consumption.

The 2010 earthquake completely destroyed the company’s facilities in Isla Rocuant, in the commune of Talcahuano. Landes was forced to reduce its team from 650 employees to 150. The company rose again 8 years after the tragedy: today it has again about 600 employees. In addition, it manages a fleet of 5 own vessels and four plants for the production of frozen products, fishmeal and hydrolyzed cuttlefish, horse mackerel and mackerel. Products that are exported to countries in Asia, Africa, North and South America.

In 2018, Landes undertakes a new journey: the farming and processing of mussels in the island of Chiloé. Landes Mussels fully develops the production process, which goes from harvesting seeds to fattening in a natural way for then processing at its own plant, located in the area of Dalcahue.
